
PCGI certification is a nationally recognized standard. PCGI certification has been adopted as a requirement for rock climbing guides and/or instructors operating in the majority of U.S. Department of the Interior - National Park Service areas that mandate rock climbing guide certification. For more information on PCGI visit the PCGI web site: Nick Farley of The Gunks Guide is a PCGI Certified Multi-Pitch Guide and sits on the PCGI Technical Development Committee and Board of Directors. Nick has been a major contributor to the development of the PCGI Lead Guide standard of training and certification, via countless hours of R&D and manual development for the PCGI. He is approved as an independent PCGI course and assessment provider and is also a member of the PCGI National Mentor and Assessor pool. The Gunks Guide - 2009 independently provided PCGI course and assessment schedule: Lead Guide Training Course: 4 days ( Save Money, the Lead Guide course encompasses the rescue course!)Cost: $395.00 Next Date: July 12-15 Lead Guide Assessment: 2 days Cost: $175.00 Next Date: July 27-28 Rescue Course: 2 Days - Completing this course will not certify individuals as PCGI Certified, but it is a pre-requisite for the PCGI Multi-Pitch Guide Course. Rescue Assessment: 1 Day * All prices do not reflect the required daily entrance fees to the Mohonk Preserve. Note: All PCGI assessments for certification are separate undertakings from PCGI courses. Completing PCGI courses will not certify individuals as PCGI certified guides. Individuals must pass the appropriate level of Guide assessment in order to become a PCGI certified guide. Passing the PCGI Rescue Assessment component does not provide any level of certification in itself, but is one of the pre-requisites for entering the PCGI Lead Guide Assessment or PCGI Multi-Pitch Guide Assessment. PCGI and PCGI approved mentors and assessors also take pre-requisites very seriously. Individuals who fail to meet and/or misrepresent pre-requisites will be dismissed from courses or assessments with no refund.
